Towering Forward Set to Depart Sheffield United Which Could See Striker Return to Bramall Lane

Sheffield United are ready to part ways with experienced striker Kieffer Moore in the coming days, as Wrexham move in for the Welsh international. According to Sky Sports, the agreement is valued roughly £2 million and will see the soon-to-be 33-year-old leave Bramall Lane after only a year.

Moore joined United from Bournemouth last summer but struggled with a hernia for most of the season.

Moore emerged as an important member of United’s starting eleven near the conclusion of the season, and he proved to be a handful in the play-off semi-final. However, he played a significant role in Sunderland’s winning goal in the play-off final, prompting supporters to debate whether he should continue in the squad for the 2025/26 Championship season.

His exit will free up significant wages for United, giving the club more freedom in the summer transfer market as they prepare for another promotion push. Manager Ruben Selles wants to move soon to replace Moore, who turns 33 later this month.

Could Sheffield United replace Moore with McBurnie?

A familiar name is already being considered: former Blades striker Oli McBurnie. According to journalist Alan Nixon, the 29-year-old is a free agent after leaving Las Palmas this summer, and he has spoken with Sheffield United about a possible comeback barely 12 months after leaving Bramall Lane.

Last season, the Scot played 34 games for Las Palmas, scoring three goals and assisting six others. However, his efforts were unable to prevent them from being relegated to La Liga 2, which triggered a clause in McBurnie’s contract that allowed him to leave for free if Las Palmas were relegated.

McBurnie is also believed to have spoken with another former club, Swansea City. Meanwhile, Hull City and Ipswich Town are two of four Championship clubs interested in the striker, while Celta Vigo and other Spanish clubs are keeping an eye on him.

Blades Set For Midfield Reinforcement

In other developments, The Star reports that Djibril Soumare, Braga’s young defensive midfielder, could be confirmed as a new Sheffield United player in the coming days. The Senegalese 22-year-old is regarded as a natural successor to Vinicius Souza, who left S2 for Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg earlier this summer.
