Two persons were found dead after a house fire
The finding was made after emergency services were dispatched to the property soon before 4.40 a.m. Officials claimed the “severe house fire” started in a first-floor maisonette unit in The Coppice, in the city’s Stoke Aldermoor neighbourhood.
A representative for West Midlands Police stated, “Sadly, two people were confirmed dead at the scene, and we are currently attempting to identify them.
“Our officers are liaising closely with West Midlands Fire Service, who are working to identify the cause of the fire.” Detectives are also conducting an inquiry, according to the force.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said its staff collaborated with firemen and police to “identify two patients” on the property.
However, a spokeswoman continued: “Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save either of the patients and they were confirmed dead at the scene.”
A representative for the fire service stated that four fire engines from Coventry, Binley, Foleshill, and Canley responded, with the first arriving within four minutes of being dispatched.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property but very sadly, the bodies of two people were found inside.”
The fire was doused shortly before 6 a.m., they reported. Police are urging anyone with information regarding the fire to contact police.
