Tyler Dibling commits future to Saints
Southampton Football Club is happy to report that Tyler Dibling, a young player, has agreed to a new deal that will
keep him with the team until 2026.
The offensive midfielder, who is still only 17, has had a great season so far as a regular for the Under-21s and has also
been given a few opportunities in the main squad.
In addition to receiving frequent senior training and matchday squad participation, Dibling made his professional
debut as a substitute in the Carabao Cup first round trip to Gillingham.
He has so far had a successful personal campaign at the Under-21 level, tallying five goals and dishing out three
assists in 11 games.
“It feels good to know that I’m trusted,” said Dibling, “they want to push me so I’ve just to keep going, do what I’m
doing with the Under-21s and when I do get my chance with the first team I’ve just got to take it.”
“It’s been good when me, Sam [Amo-Ameyaw], and Jayden [Meghoma] have been pushed up to be with the first
team more regularly, because they are better players they’ll make you a better player, it’s definitely helped.
“Now my future is secured [at Southampton], I know I’ve just got to knuckle down and keep going.”
Andy Goldie, the Academy Director, went on to explain why the club decided to guarantee Dibling’s future for the
ensuing three years.
“We’re happy to give Tyler a new contract because he has continued to embrace the opportunities and challenges
we’ve given him this season.
“Despite the fact that he has previously played for our first team and represented his nation in the U17 World Cup
this season, he is very motivated and focused on building on those accomplishments.
“We now look forward to supporting him in maximising his full potential to earn greater success in the future.”
