
UK airport closed after plane ‘collapses’ on runway during landing
An airport was forced to close its runway after a light aircraft’s undercarriage collapsed.
Norwich Airport reported that the aircraft carrying two people was diverted to its runway after experiencing undercarriage issues.
A spokesman stated, “Upon landing, the undercarriage collapsed.”
According to the spokesperson, the two people on board were assisted in exiting the aircraft without injury.
A flight to Amsterdam was cancelled, and a TUI flight from Tenerife was diverted to Stansted while the runway was closed, they said.
The runway was supposed to be closed “until at least 17:00 while the aircraft is recovered”.
Passengers planning to fly are advised to contact their airline for the most up-to-date information.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “One ambulance and a paramedic car were dispatched to Norwich Airport this afternoon in response to reports of a light aircraft in distress.
