In the trade, this period of year is referred to as Satdeetuesdeesatdeetuesdee. Or Wednesday in this instance, since it’s the midweek visit to QPR. We lost 1-0 at The Kassam on Saturday when Chris Wilder came back to perform his usual stuff, so there isn’t much to unwrap.

I’ve taken the average points haul from all the clubs that were promoted and relegated previous season (1.3 points per game) for them because it’s a tricky calculation because we’ve played two teams that we didn’t play last year.

In light of that, we have accumulated five points this year compared to 5.6 points from the teams we have faced thus far last year. Not fantastic, but not bad, and we’ll be back in the green zone if we learn anything from the next two games. Picking up anything from Watford or QPR will be very helpful, but there’s no need to freak out just yet.

Due to a very easy start to the season, Queen’s Park Rangers’ ranking of ninth in the Championship may be a little overstated. They won three straight games against Stoke, Wrexham, and Charlton—all clubs we might hope to gain points against—after losing to Coventry 7-1 in their third encounter. On Saturday, a draw with Sheffield Wednesday, divisional whipping boys, could be the bright spot we’ve been searching for.

Otherwise Rangers are perennial mid-table dwellers, this is their eleventh straight season in the Championship and they’ve only finished higher than tenth once. That said, they did the double over us last season, so such averageness is probably an aspiration for us right now.
