Valerien Ismael has been pained by John Eustace at Blackburn Rovers, but it can work in his favour

Valerien Ismael has been pained by John Eustace at Blackburn Rovers, but it can work in his favour.

So far, Blackburn Rovers’ summer has not proven as promising as they had hoped. Andreas Weimann and Danny Batth, who has praised John Eustace, left the club on 1 July to join Derby County, where they reunited with their old head coach.

Lewis Travis has also been linked with a move to the Rams, and Callum Brittain is a target for the East Midlands club.

It was probably expected that Blackburn would lose players to their former manager, but the rate at which the interest is flowing is worrying. However, Valerien Ismael can take advantage of this for one reason.

Derby County are trying their best to ruin Blackburn Rovers’ summer

Both Batth and Weimann joined Rovers last summer and played important roles as the Lancashire club nearly missed out on a play-off spot.

Blackburn Rovers' Andi Weimann celebrates scoring his side's second goal with Tyrhys Dolan Sammie Szmodics Harry Pickering John Buckley and Danny Baath during the Sky Bet Championship match between Blackburn Rovers FC and Derby County FC

The latter scored one of the Championship goals of the season against fierce rivals Burnley in August, but injuries ended his season early, and the next time Blackburn supporters will see him is in November when Derby visit Ewood Park.

Batth was a major player in BB2 last season, playing 37 games in the Championship at the age of 34.

His experience was invaluable, and he will be a significant loss in defence. While the Rams’ interest in Travis has yet to materialise, if Blackburn loses their captain, it will be difficult to replace him, and Ismael will have his work cut out for him.

Valerien Ismael should not be concerned about the transactions that have occurred.

While the two players they have already lost to Derby were first-team regulars, both are nearing the end of their careers, and the departure of two elderly veterans should be seen positively.

Tyrhys Dolan has left the club, but Dion de Neve could be the ideal replacement for the former Preston North End junior star. Blackburn need to make additional additions, but they have a great base to build on.

The most pressing issue for Ismael will be the strained connection between the club’s leadership and its followers. He must be supported in the market to ensure that the lost players are adequately replaced; if they are, the Frenchman will have nothing to worry about, despite Eustace’s transfer business.
