Wales great Gareth Bale is a member of a company seeking to acquire a controlling share in Cardiff City.

Earlier this month, an investment consortium led by Gareth Bale made a preliminary bid for Cardiff, which Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan turned down.

Gareth Bale has acknowledged that he is a member of a group aiming to purchase a majority stake in Cardiff, a team in Sky Bet League One.

The possibility of joining his hometown team was referred to as “a dream come true” by Bale, the all-time top scorer for Wales.

According to reports, the consortium featuring Bale made a first inquiry earlier this month, but Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan turned it down.

Bale told Sky Sports on the red carpet at the F1: The Movie premiere: “We are keen in acquiring Cardiff. My uncle used to perform for them, and it’s my home club, where I grew up.

“I am aware of how incredible Cardiff and Welsh supporters are. Trying anything jointly would be fantastic.

“We are trying to engage with Cardiff and more news will come out on that in the future but hopefully we can get something done.”

Given that Real Madrid star Luka Modric has joined Swansea City as a co-owner and investor, Bale may be about to follow in his former teammate’s footsteps.

Following a four-year stint at Tottenham earlier in his illustrious career, the 39-year-old Croatia captain has spent the last 13 seasons at Real Madrid, helping them win six Champions League championships.

Modric, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner, was excited at the opportunity to apply his expertise to support the Welsh team, although Swansea did not reveal how much he had invested.

“This is an exciting opportunity,” Modric stated. Swansea has a devoted following, a strong sense of self, and the will to be the best.
