‘We’re close to a couple’: Noel Hunt provides update on new signings for Reading FC

Reading FC manager Noel Hunt has stated that the team is working hard to complete a new signing ahead of their League One fixture on Saturday.

The Royals have made nine new recruits this summer, and Hunt is still looking to add to his team before the transfer window closes at the beginning of September.

Reading’s offense is particularly thin with the loss of last season’s leading striker, Harvey Knibbs, who joined Charlton Athletic.

Prior to Reading’s home encounter against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, Hunt told Royals TV: “We’re working hard.” We are getting close to being a couple. I’m not sure if we’ll get them done before the weekend. But I’m hoping to have at least one between now and the end of this weekend. Keep an eye on this space.”

The Royals return to League One action on Saturday when they host newly promoted AFC Wimbledon at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

They will also face the Dons in the Carabao Cup second round following Tuesday night’s success at Fratton Park, where Hunt’s side defeated Championship side Portsmouth with goals from Andre Garcia and Kelvin Ehibhati.

Reading are seeking for their first points of the season after losing their first two games.

Meanwhile, Wimbledon lost 1-0 to Luton in their first meeting before picking up three points with a 2-0 win over Lincoln City last weekend.
