‘West Brom make last-ditch bid to stop Tom Fellows joining Everton’ amid ‘incredible’ claim

West Brom are expected to begin behind-the-scenes talks with Tom Fellows to persuade him to turn down interest from Everton and Leeds United.

On the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that Ryan Mason will want to keep his top players at the club ahead of his debut season at The Hawthorns.

Mason want to keep the 21-year-old following a “incredible” season in which he recorded 14 assists, but there is speculation that they may receive an offer that is too good to pass up.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in February that Everton would renew their interest in Fellows after missing out on a deal in the January transfer window.

On transfer deadline day, an agreement was made with the player, who was eager to depart, but the two teams were unable to agree on a fee.

More recently, Football Insider stated that Everton are well-positioned to sign Fellows, with David Moyes determined to reinforce in the wide areas.

West Brom responds to Everton’s interest in Tom Fellows

Mick Brown, former Manchester United head scout, told Football Insider in February that Everton are expected to re-sign Fellows following their agreement in the midseason window.

Leeds are also reportedly interested in the winger, and the Baggies may be tempted to sell after missing out on the playoffs last season.

Robinson added that, while Mason will do everything he can to keep his finest players at The Hawthorns, he may be unable to prevent his departure.

“He was heavily linked with a move in January,” he said to Football Insider.

“The fact that West Brom were on the verge of the playoffs and had an opportunity near the end of the season didn’t assist his chances of getting away.

“He’s 21, and his attacking stats this season in terms of goals and assists are remarkable, with 14 assists in a club that placed ninth in the Championship.

“The key now will be Ryan Mason’s impact on player retention.”

“Coming in, he’s not going to want to lose his best players.

“Tom Fellows is under contract until the end of next season, and I’m sure negotiations will take place behind the scenes to tie him to a new term and keep him.

“The thing is for West Brom, the price might be too much.”

Jeffrey Schlupp’s update at The Hawthorns Mason is eager to bolster his squad ahead of his first season in senior management, with their sights set on a playoff spot following last season’s setback.

Football Insider exclusively disclosed on July 9 that West Brom want to sign Jeffrey Schlupp, who left Crystal Palace last month.

Schlupp, 32, spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic and is now a free agent after leaving Selhurst Park at the end of his contract.

Last season, the midfielder won two winners’ medals after Celtic won the Scottish Premiership, and his parent club hoisted the FA Cup in his absence.
