West Brom manager search: Ryan Mason issue, Marti Cifuentes surprise, Hull City eye Tony Mowbray.
West Brom are looking for a new manager following the decision to part ways with Tony Mowbray.
The 61-year-old was only appointed in January, but was fired with a few games left in the regular season after the team’s play-off hopes were dashed.
Mowbray had previously been successful with the Baggies, leading them to Premier League promotion in 2009, but he was unable to replicate that feat this season.
Here’s the latest news on West Brom’s search for a permanent successor.

Ryan Mason stumbling block
West Brom are considering hiring Tottenham Hotspur coach Ryan Mason as a possible successor to Mowbray.
According to The Sun, the 33-year-old has caught the attention of the Midlands outfit for his work on Ange Postecoglou’s staff.
Spurs’ Europa League success may impede a quick deal.
The London club is one game away from reaching the final of the European competition, where a victory would qualify them for the Champions League.
Mason’s appointment may be postponed until the competition ends, leaving room for another appointment if a better candidate emerges during that period.
Lee Hendrie surprised Martí Cifuentes.
Martí Cifuentes, who is currently on gardening leave at QPR, has been linked to the vacant managerial position at the Hawthorns.
However, Steve Hermon reported that he is not on the club’s list of potential replacements for Mowbray.
Lee Hendrie, speaking exclusively to FLW, expressed surprise at the development.
He believed the 47-year-old could lead West Brom forward, particularly through his work with young players.
“I’m surprised, because I recently discussed this. Hendrie expressed surprise at Cifuentes’ status as an up-and-coming coach.
“It makes me wonder about West Bromwich Albion’s current situation and how they plan to improve the football club.
“Clearly, they are a big football club, but they need some motivation to move forward.
“The reason I thought he’d be one of the head coaches to come in and take West Brom forward is because he works with a lot of younger players and has that reputation for doing so.
“That’s where I believe they’ve fallen short in terms of developing younger players and instilling confidence in them.
“But [I’m] very surprised that he isn’t one of them that’s a target to take them forward.”
Tony Mowbray’s Next Move
After leaving West Bromwich Albion last month, Mowbray may not have to wait long for his next football role.
Mike White reports that Hull City is considering the future of Ruben Selles after finishing 21st in the Championship table.
The Tigers narrowly avoided relegation and may now consider changing coaches over the summer to improve their chances of climbing the standings.
Mowbray is reportedly interested in the position, if it becomes available.
