Southampton’s £20m transfer plan could pave way for Aaron Ramsdale exit and spell trouble for Championship rivals
Although Southampton is a Championship team in waiting, it appears that they are already
planning some significant summer transfers.
There were great expectations for Southampton in the Premier League this season after they
managed to get promoted through the Championship play-offs the previous season.
To be honest, though, the Saints have performed appallingly in the top division. Southampton will
go down as one of the worst teams in Premier League history after only 11 points this season.
Although they were the first team to be announced for the 2025–2026 Championship season,
Southampton appears poised to make a significant impact as they get ready for life in the second
division.

Southampton could spend big money on West Ham ace this summer
Alan Nixon reported on Patreon that Southampton is “eager to sign” Luis Guilherme, a winger for West Ham, in the summer.
According to reports, Southampton is eager to “bounce back” from this relegation and will be looking for “new blood” in the summer transfer window as they get ready for a number of departures.
When it comes to Guilherme’s price, West Ham is hoping to “recover” something like the £20 million they spent on the Brazilian in the summer of 2024.
The transaction might, however, turn out to be a loan-to-buy arrangement, or Aaron Ramsdale might even take a different route as part of the transfer.
We know that a number of top flight clubs are keen on Ramsdale, and the Saints will be preparing to cash in to fund their next promotion-chasing campaign.
Championship rivals should underestimate Southampton at their peril
Southampton may have been dire this season in the Premier League, but we should expect the
Saints to be a force to be reckoned with next season upon their return to the Championship.
The only problem is that they have yet to find a new manager, and Southampton’s shortlist for the
position has not impressed supporters.
Frank Lampard, David Wagner, Danny Rohl, and Steven Gerrard have all been suggested for the
part. However, whomever takes over is probably going to earn a sizable transfer budget to bolster a
quality team.
Shea Charles’ return to Southampton following his loan stint at Sheffield Wednesday is an exciting
prospect, as he is the type of player who can help the Saints contend for promotion once more.
