West Ham accelerate savvy move for the ‘new Vincent Kompany’ and have ace card over Spurs
West Ham has increased their efforts to overcome rivals Spurs by pursuing a young player known as the “new Vincent Kompany.” They have the upper hand in the competition.
Tottenham Hotspur expressed interest in Graham Potter this week, and the Hammers are reportedly in negotiations to make a highly astute trade in an attempt to bolster their defence.
Spurious rivals Tottenham have caused West Ham’s window to explode.
When the club’s owners sold Mohammed Kudus to Spurs for £54.5 million, Hammers supporters were incensed.
Supporters were aware that Kudus had to be sold in order to generate money so Potter could sign his own players because of PSR.
However, they were aware of Kudus’ potential and did not want to see him sold to their competitors.
West Ham and Spurs on collision course again
Time will tell whether that was a wise decision.
For the here and now, though, West Ham insisted they had little choice with Spurs being the only show in town for the Ghanaian and money urgently needed for signings.
In a move valued at up to £23 million, the Hammers quickly put the money to good use by acquiring El Hadji Malick Diouf, a talented young Senegalese left wingback, from Slavia Prague.
In the days ahead, West Ham will also reveal Kyle Walker-Peters, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, as their second free agent addition.
Spurs had expressed interest in their former star, but the Hammers emerged victorious when Walker-Peters’ departure to Besiktas was thwarted by the offer of a three-year contract.
Tottenham and Kudus have been goading the Irons since the deal to take him to north London.
Spurs’ announcement video for the deal showed Kudus saying he ‘only wanted Spurs’.
Now the Hammers could be set for a measure of revenge.

Both the Hammers and Spurs are looking to sign a new centre-back this summer.

Due to this, the two teams are now headed for a collision with Koni De Winter, a great Belgian talent.
De Winter, a 23-year-old centre back with quickness and versatility, can play both full-back and defensive midfield.
He acknowledges and aspires to live up to the similarities made between him and his countryman, the talented former Man City captain Kompany.
He told The i Paper earlier this year, “I’ve been told I play like Vincent Kompany my entire life.”
“I have the same technical side and can run with the ball the way he did.” I aspire to be able to live up to him someday because he has such a great name.
The 6ft 3in star had been at Juventus but was loaned to Genoa, who made his move permanent for around £6m last summer.
West Ham was immediately linked to a summer transfer for De Winter when head of recruiting Kyle Macaulay arrived at the London Stadium in January.
However, Tottenham became a major issue this week.
Although negotiations were said to be ongoing, Thomas Frank’s side had not yet submitted an offer.
That has left the door open for the Hammers and they’ve kicked it down according to a new report from Italy.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, West Ham has now moved to attempt to get De Winter after Tottenham expressed interest.
The defender is “highly appreciated by Potter,” according to Gazzetta, which also confirms Genoa’s desire for about £22 million.
In addition to a higher assurance of playing time, West Ham’s ace card is that Genoa still wants Hammers flop Maxwel Cornet, whom the Hammers are willing to include in the deal.
After spending the second half of the last campaign on loan at Genoa, Patrick Vieira wants Cornet to return for the following campaign.
Potter has no intentions for Cornet, who has hardly played for West Ham since joining for £17.5 million from Burnley three years ago.
In addition to giving West Ham an advantage against Tottenham, the Ivory Coast winger’s inclusion in the deal will also make the Hammers’ transfer even more affordable.
For West Ham, it would be Cornet’s largest and most significant contribution to date.
And the money is there to finish it with the Kudus cash in hand.
