What Millwall fans sang to Japhet Tanganga after win vs Sheffield United could sway transfer decision

During Millwall’s win against Sheffield United, the away fans directed a chant towards the imminently departing centre-back Japhet Tanganga.

Millwall got back to winning ways as they beat Sheffield United 1-0 on their travels.

After the disappointing showing against Middlesbrough in the opening home game at The Den, Alex Neil expected a reaction from his ranks, and they successfully delivered a suckerpunch to Sheffield United.

In what has been a bright start to the season for Millwall, it is a contrasting picture in S2 as Sheffield United have now lost three successive games, leaving them at rock bottom of the Championship table.

The spirited performance from Alex Neil’s side came without the capable Japhet Tanganga at the back, as he closes in on a move to Bramall Lane. However, it could be argued that the events in Sheffield United’s defeat to Millwall could lead to him reconsidering.

Japhet Tanganga

Millwall fans direct chant to Japhet Tanganga as he could ponder on Sheffield United decision

It has been reported that Sheffield United have agreed a deal worth £10m for Millwall centre-back Japhet Tanganga, with Blades boss Ruben Selles looking to plug his defensive concerns with a new defender.

Ironically, the two sides faced each other at Bramall Lane, with Millwall grabbing a win to continue their positive start to the season.

As Millwall won their away trip to South Yorkshire, their fans directed a chant towards Tanganga, as spotted by Danny Hall, with the supporters singing: “Japhet, Japhet, what’s the score?”

After such a performance, in which Millwall have proven to be a team to watch in the Championship, it could be argued that Tanganga may have higher prospects of promotion to the Premier League with the Lions as opposed to the Blades.

Fresh reports after the game suggest the deal is close to a conclusion, but surely Tanganga must be having some second thoughts after what he witnessed at Bramall Lane today.

Millwall may have dropped Sheffield United into relegation concerns

Alex Neil will be happy with his side after a resolute performance against Sheffield United.

It was a showing that not only could make Japhet Tanganga think that Millwall could have a higher chance of challenging for the play-offs, but may spark a looming concern that Sheffield United could genuinely be in trouble of relegation.

Sheffield United have been disorganised and dismantled throughout the early stages of the season, and it was no different against Millwall, with Blades boss Ruben Selles receiving the majority of the blame.

If Tanganga is to move to Sheffield United, he will have a sizeable task on his hands to help sort out the uninspiring Blades defence, which is sitting at the back of a side that are significantly struggling in front of goal as well.
