What Newcastle United board are now expecting to happen with Sean Longstaff as Leeds United bid rejected

Leeds United’s third attempt to buy Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United was unsuccessful. The Whites submitted an initial proposal

of £10 million plus an additional £2 million in add-ons, but were flatly rejected.

Leeds has always shown interest in Longstaff, especially when Daniel Farke was manager. The Toon must make some sales because

the 27-year-old midfielder is currently in the last year of his contract.

For PSR, Longstaff is a symbol of unadulterated profit. But in terms of registration regulations, the midfield player is also a

homegrown possibility because of Newcastle’s Champions League qualification.

It is currently unknown if Leeds will make a fourth attempt to acquire the midfield player. Although it seems doubtful that Leeds will

make a move, Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News that he expects Leeds to do so.

What Newcastle board are now expecting over Longstaff future

Longstaff will have to make the final decision. Although it is thought that the player wants to transfer, he is not making a big deal out

of it because Newcastle is his boyhood club and he is content to stay if that is the case.

Following Leeds’ proposal, The Athletic talks about Longstaff’s future. According to reports, the Newcastle board frequently discusses

Longstaff’s future, including the benefits and drawbacks of his staying or leaving for Leeds.

In the end, no offer for Longstaff has persuaded Newcastle that it is worthwhile to sell. However, The Athletic claims that as the

summer progresses, the “expectation” will shift and that there will probably be a greater need to sell.

Sean Longstaff is sixth choice, and could find himself worse off

There is no doubt that Newcastle need a big squad after a return to Europe, but he is in real danger of failing even to make a matchday

squad. Newcastle boast one of the best midfield trios in England.

Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, and Sandro Tonali. The Toon three possesses all the necessary skills to succeed in the Premier League:

toughness, cunning, and technique. Joe Willock, a £25 million player, is behind them as a first reserve.

Next are Longstaff and Lewis Miley, both of whom are Toon Academy products; as Miley is a teenager, the latter is probably going to

be preferred. Conor Gallagher, an England star, is another player Newcastle wants to get from Atletico Madrid.

Longstaff will go further lower in the hierarchy if Gallagher moves to Newcastle. Longstaff has no chance because Gallagher’s start is

not even certain. He has to depart if he wants to play.
