What will happen if Dejphon Chansiri doesn’t pay Sheffield Wednesday wages today
Sheffield If Wednesday’s players do not receive their June salary on time today, they may be let go from the team
within a few weeks.
The Owls’ off-field problems under owner Dejphon Chansiri are well known, and supporters have been urging the
Thai entrepreneur to sell the team.
Last month, there was a significant issue when the Wednesday staff and players weren’t paid their May salaries on
time. Due to the EFL’s sanctions, the Yorkshire team will not be able to sign a player for the upcoming three transfer
windows.
Sheffield Wednesday players not expected to be paid June wages on time
perception that Chansiri would once again fail to pay the payments on time.
The Sun has also disclosed that the Wednesday players have attempted to contact the EFL in expectation of not
receiving their own compensation, requesting that they pay the salaries out of funds that would otherwise be
transferred to the club for television rights.
There are a number of players and staff who will be out of contract from July 1, so this would be their last payment
from the club as it stands.
According to FIFA regulations, failing to pay wages on time for the second consecutive month could be detrimental
to Wednesday since it could initiate a process that allows players to leave the team for free.
According to Stoke-On-Trent Live, the regulations specify that players who have not received their payments on time
for several months will be given “just cause” to leave later in July.
“A player will be considered to have a valid reason to end his contract if a club illegally fails to pay him at least two
monthly salaries on the due dates, as long as he has given the debtor club written notice of default and given them at
least 15 days to fulfil their financial obligations. Other clauses in contracts that were in place when this clause went
into effect might be taken into account.
This is a pretty depressing position, and the truth is that you wouldn’t blame any player if they did choose to initiate
the process of leaving on a free pass.
You also feel a great deal of sorrow for the club’s employees, who will undoubtedly be going through another trying
time while they wait to find out if their pay will arrive on schedule.

It appears that Chansiri’s sale, which he says he is willing to undertake, is the only way Wednesday can get going and
advance as a club.
We are aware that other parties are interested in the Owls, and we hope that a quick arrangement can be reached and
Chansiri’s tenure as manager comes to an end.
