When Celtic will ‘move forward’ to sign Balikwisha after transfer twist

Celtic are apparently still interested in signing Michel-Ange Balikwisha this summer.

The winger has been linked with a transfer to Parkhead, but in recent days it was reported that he was in advanced talks to join a French club.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has subsequently denied those rumors, stating that Celtic will move forward with the signing of Balikwisha depending on whether they qualify for the Champions League.

Balikwisha missed the majority of the season due to injury, but he still scored four goals and assisted three in 17 appearances for Royal Antwerp.

Brendan Rodgers is looking for a winger, or two, before the transfer window closes, and the 24-year-old could be an option.

This latest update comes after Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers opened up about moves on Friday, as his team prepares to begin their Scottish Premiership campaign. He remarked, “We still have a little bit of work to do. I believe it’s a great testament to the guys who are here and how hard they’ve worked. But, hopefully, the squad will look different by the end of the window.

“We know what we need to accomplish, and it is my obligation to persuade the club that we truly need them. I am not doing that job as well as I could, but I will continue to pursue it because it is vital to us.”
