TBR Football can exclusively reveal when Sunderland expect to finalise the transfer of Getafe defender Omar Alderete as the new Premier League season approaches.

Sunderland have been one of the more active teams in the Premier League transfer market, attempting to close the considerable gap between the top division and the Championship.

With all eyes on the Black Cats’ first game of the season against West Ham, Regis Le Bris has made bringing in a new centre back his primary priority, following the signing of former Hammers defender Arthur Masuaku on free transfer.

Following ties to Loic Bade, TBR Football can reveal that Sunderland has reached an agreement to sign Omar Alderete and when they intend to complete the deal to bring him to the North East.

While Sevilla’s Bade piqued Le Bris’ interest, he appears to be joining Bayer Leverkusen alongside Erik Ten Hag.

While the final arrangements of Alderete’s move to Sunderland are still being worked out, he appears to be on track to wear the red and white jersey in the Premier League next season. Sunderland have taken an aggressive approach to the transfer market as they seek to avoid difficulty in the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Le Bris has expanded his team, with Chelsea prospect Marc Guiu entering on loan ahead to Sunderland’s most recent flurry of action. It’s unclear whether Alderete is the final player to sign for Sunderland this summer.

However, after bringing in 10 new recruits, Le Bris now has a formidable group to work with.
