Why all trains going through Blackburn have been cancelled.

All trains leaving Blackburn station today, May 11, will be cancelled or delayed due to a points failure.

Northern has warned that train services through the town will be affected, with some already cancelled.

Trains from Manchester Victoria to Blackburn cannot run both directions.

Additionally, services between Blackpool North and Colne have been cancelled.

National Rail has also identified the route between Blackpool South and Colne as having been disrupted.

Services through the station will continue to be cancelled or delayed for up to 30 minutes, with disruption expected until 10:30 a.m.

A Northern spokesperson stated, “We apologise for the cancellation of this service today.
If the train for which you have a ticket is cancelled, you may travel on any Northern service within two hours of the cancelled service’s departure time.

“If you’ve been delayed by 15 minutes or more, hold on to your tickets and claim compensation by visiting the northern rail website.”
