Brendan Galloway Ready to Do Whatever He Can to Help Plymouth Argyle
Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway has declared himself fully fit and ready to contribute in any way he can this season after a frustrating spell on the sidelines due to injury.
The 28-year-old missed the final four months of last term with a serious thigh injury that kept him out of action during a crucial period for the Pilgrims. Now, as the 2025/26 campaign gets underway, Galloway has returned to full training and is eager to make up for lost time.
Speaking about his recovery and current condition, Galloway said: “I feel great. It was a long and difficult time being out injured, especially watching from the sidelines when all you want to do is help your team. But I’ve had a really good pre-season, I’ve worked hard with the medical staff, and now I’m just focused on staying fit and doing whatever I can to help Plymouth Argyle.”
The Zimbabwe international, who joined Argyle in 2021, has become a reliable figure when fit, offering defensive solidity and experience. His absence last season was keenly felt as the club endured a tough spell in the Championship. With Galloway now back in the squad, manager Wayne Rooney will be pleased to have another senior option at his disposal in a demanding campaign.
“I’ve been at the club for a few years now and it means a lot to me,” Galloway continued. “The fans, the staff, the players – everyone’s been really supportive through my injury. Now it’s my turn to give back on the pitch.”
While competition for places in defence is fierce, Galloway’s versatility – capable of playing at centre-back or left-back – could prove vital in Argyle’s efforts to establish consistency this term.
“I know I might not be starting every game right away, and that’s fine,” he admitted. “What matters most is the team doing well. Whether I’m on the pitch, on the bench, or helping the younger lads in training, I just want to play my part. It’s a long season, and everyone will be needed.”
Galloway also praised the club’s atmosphere under new manager Wayne Rooney, highlighting the ambition and energy within the squad.
“There’s a real sense of determination this season,” he said. “The gaffer has come in and set high standards. He’s been very clear about what he expects from all of us, and I’m enjoying working under him. We want to build something here – not just survive, but grow stronger and compete.”
As Plymouth aim to push up the table and cement their place in the Championship, having experienced heads like Galloway back in the fold will undoubtedly boost their hopes.
With a clean bill of health, a positive mindset, and a hunger to contribute, Brendan Galloway looks set to be a valuable asset for the Pilgrims in the months ahead.
“I’m just happy to be back doing what I love,” he said. “And I’ll give everything I’ve got for the team, every time I pull on the shirt.”
