Willer Miller: Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin’s summer transfer window strategy taking shape.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has made six players during the summer transfer window, but Gothenburg Great Miller believes additional arrivals are needed to meet European league commitments.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin and his recruitment team are establishing a signing DNA through their proactive activity in the summer transfer market.
The latest signings of midfielders Adil Aouchiche and Kjartan Már Kjartansson bring Thelin’s summer signing total to six. Attacking midfielder Aouchiche, 22, and defensive midfielder Kjartansson, 18, are both young players with talent, enthusiasm, and potential.
Aouchiche was signed on loan from Sunderland in the English Premier League until the end of the season, while Kjartansson signed a four-year contract with Icelandic club Stjarnan.

Aberdeen’s transfer DNA is clear: the club seeks to identify, recruit, and develop exciting talent. Ideally, the Dons’ additions will spend two or three seasons in the first team, improving before being transferred for a significant transfer fee and profit.

If it succeeds, it will be beneficial to all parties. Great for both the club and the athlete.

Pedigree with Paris Saint-Germain

Aouchiche has an impressive resume and has the potential to be a standout signing for Aberdeen. He progressed through the youth divisions of Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain and has appeared for their first team.

Aouchiche has also played in the French top division for Saint-Étienne and has been an important player for France at the youth international level. He appears to be a very promising talent.

The midfielder will have received an excellent football education in Paris, having trained alongside some world-class players.

Aberdeen also has the option of turning Aouchiche’s loan into a permanent deal for a cost of around £1.5 million. Hopefully, he lights up Pittodrie and Scottish football enough for Aberdeen to consider the deal worth pursuing.

The Pittodrie hierarchy is reinvesting the money that has come into the club, including a £5 million gain from qualifying for the European league stage.

Kjartansson has clear potential

Thelin has been granted finances to strengthen the squad, but he is confident that the investment will be beneficial both on the pitch and financially in the future through signings.

By signing Kjartansson, the Dons have acquired a promising star who has been capped at the under-20 level for Iceland.

He has already made over 50 club appearances, which is a significant number for an 18-year-old. At such a young age, that will only be the tip of the Iceberg.

And Thelin is a manager who can help Kjartansson and the new additions reach new heights.

Aouchiche and Kjartansson arrive in Pittodrie at a young and promising age. Thelin and his scouting team have used their time wisely to find and sign these players.

Building Aberdeen for success

Chairman Dave Cormack and Thelin have previously said that they are participating in a long-term effort to prepare for the future.

Young players signed this summer will see Aberdeen as a platform to grow and improve.

Aberdeen manager Thelin has signed six players so far this transfer window. The assault was strengthened by the signing of Australian international striker Kusini Yengi and winger Nicolas Milanovic.

The additions of left-back Emmanuel Gyamfi and goalkeeper Nick Suman have significantly strengthened the back line.

Aberdeen’s transfer window DNA

When you consider the age profile, quality, and CV of the acquisitions made thus far, the Dons are on track to emerge from the summer window even stronger.

However, they will need to make a few more acquisitions to reach their goal.

Aberdeen will enter Europe at the league stage, and they will need both numerical and qualitative strength to deal with it.

Another few additions would give Thelin confidence that he has the strength and quality to balance European league play with local responsibilities. The new signings are capitalising on the euphoria from the Scottish Cup final victory.

The club is at a moment when it must fully support the manager’s efforts to achieve even greater success following the Scottish Cup victory. They’ve done it so far.
