Wilshere leaves Norwich by mutual agreement

Wilshere leaves Norwich by mutual agreement

For the season’s final two games, a 4-2 victory over Cardiff City at home and a goalless draw away to Middlesbrough, the former England and Arsenal midfielder served as interim manager.

However, the club chose to search outside for a replacement for Johannes Hoff Thorup, who was fired in April, rather than considering him for the full-time position.

After serving as the manager of Arsenal’s under-18 team, Wilshere, 33, joined Thorup’s backroom staff in October of last year and announced his intention to “pursue his career as head coach” after leaving.

He wrote, “I’d like to thank everyone at Norwich for the opportunity to continue my coaching journey with you all,” on social media.

“I established a few connections that will only get stronger. I want to express my gratitude to the amazing Canaries supporters for their kind welcome from the day I joined.

Although the BBC understands that an appointment could be made next week, Canaries sporting director Ben Knapper has previously stated that the team would take its time in selecting a replacement for Thorup.

Knapper, who worked at Arsenal when Wilshere was a player there, stated, “Jack made a big impact here in the time he was with us,”

“We all feel sad to see him go because he developed wonderful relationships with our players and staff.

“We all appreciate his filling in as our temporary head coach for the last two games of the season, but we also respect and understand his wish to look into other options.

“He departs with our warmest regards, and we’ll keep a careful eye on his development. He will undoubtedly have a very prosperous career as a senior game coach.
