Pierce Charles’ Sheffield Wednesday future isn’t in the hands of Henrik Pedersen, but rather in the hands of the owner, Dejphon Chansiri, the manager has revealed.
Djeidi Gassama was transferred to Rangers for £2.2 million and has already demonstrated what a loss he will be to Wednesday, scoring four goals in his first four competitive outings under Russell Martin. Manchester City paid £1.5 million for teenage prodigy Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri, while Anthony Musaba was traded to Turkish club Samsunspor.

This dark journey the club has been on appears to be coming to an end. The Star reported at the end of July that Wednesday was no longer actively looking to sell players.
In even better news, The Star reported on Thursday that the club expects to pay off all outstanding debts to players, staff, and other teams in short order, thereby lifting the EFL’s embargoes on the Owls.
Worrying Pierce Charles, Sheffield Wednesday future claim made by Henrik Pedersen
Pierce is one of the other high-value assets that they have avoided selling. The 20-year-old Northern Irish international goalkeeper is in high demand, with several Premier League clubs keeping an eye on him.
According to The Star, the money used to pay off the outstanding debts would most likely come from Premier League solidarity payments, thus financial concerns may remain a concern for Hillsborough in the future.
If Wednesday are in need of money and the transfer window is still open (it closes on September 1st), Charles is the player they may get the most for.

In a potentially concerning allegation, Pedersen, the new first-team manager, has stated that any decision to sell the keeper will be made by Chansiri, not him.
“It’s more tricky than something I can control,” the Danish manager told The Star. “Ultimately, the chairman is the club’s owner, and he will make the final decision. I can express my wishes to him, and of course, my biggest want is that Pierce stays.
“He’s a wonderful goalkeeper and a fantastic person, and he is an important part of Sheffield Wednesday’s future football strategy. Of course, I’ll do everything I can to keep him at the club.”
Sheffield Wednesday aren’t fully escaping this misery any time soon
Wednesday will bear the long-term consequences of this terrible moment. They are prohibited from paying transfer or loan fees until the summer of 2027 as a result of Chansiri’s recent financial catastrophe, all while maintaining his intention to obtain a nine-figure fee from any club sale.
While he is still in charge and ultimately unable to give the funds required to run the club effectively, the need for periodic flash sales will continue, casting further doubt on Charles’ and others’ prospects.
The only bright spot is that, considering that the Northern Irishman is the only’senior’ option between the sticks, the numerous opportunities he will have to showcase his abilities this season in a very thin Wednesday squad should only boost his worth.
