Worthing manager hunt continues after Hammond exit

After Hammond leaves, the search for a worthy manager continues.

At Sutton, the assistant manager will work alongside Chris Agutter, his previous manager.

Agutter joined the National League team last week to replace Steve Moriosn, who was fired following the team’s recent 2-1 loss to the Albion under-21s at home. Hammond was supposed to follow him, according to yesterday’s Argus article. He had been given temporary management of Worthing for three games, which culminated in Monday’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round match against Robbie Savage’s Forest Green.

However, he would have been suspended for the cup match after receiving a red card near the end of Saturday’s 1-0 league loss at Maidenhead. Therefore, before taking on Savage’s elite team live on TNT Sport, the Rebels are searching for a manager. Aarran Racine appears to be the most likely candidate to fill in at short notice after leading Worthing to the National League South play-off final almost eighteen months ago.

Fans may also be beginning to hope that Adam Hinshelwood, who was just fired by York City, may make a comeback. However, that is seen as improbable. “The club extend their sincere thanks for all that Dean has contributed during his spell with us and wish him every success in his new role,” Worthing FC stated in a statement.
