Wrexham linked with Reading FC star ahead of summer window.
Heavy-spending Wrexham have allegedly ‘focused their attentions’ to Reading midfielder Charlie Savage ahead of their debut season back in the Championship. This year, the Red Dragons completed an unprecedented back-to-back promotion from the National League to the Championship under Royals legend Phil Parkinson. Wrexham, backed by Hollywood actors Rob McIlhenny and Ryan Reynolds, has attracted thousands of supporters from across the pond after their ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ hit on Disney+. Following their record-breaking signing of Reading attacker Sam Smith in the winter, the club has been connected with Fulham captain Tom Cairney and Royals star Savage in the last week.

Savage, 22, has made nearly 100 appearances for the club since joining from Manchester United in 2023, becoming a regular under Noel Hunt. Reading finished sixth in League One and are now under new and stable ownership, giving them an appealing possibility going ahead.
Savage, a Wales international, is still under contract and would have to pay a high fee, but The Wrexham Insider has connected Savage and Rangers midfielder Tom Lawrence with a transfer to the Stok Cae Ras this summer.
