Wright selection decision as Frank Lampard makes one change to his Coventry City team v Blackburn

Wright’s inclusion as Frank Lampard alters his Coventry City squad against Blackburn

Victor Torp is back in the starting lineup for Frank Lampard’s Coventry City team against Blackburn Rovers at the CBS Arena. Jamie Allen stood in for the Danish midfielder last time out at Sheffield Wednesday after he was treated for an ankle issue that had gotten worse at Millwall.

Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Liam Kitching, and Jay Dasilva make up the back four, while goalkeeper Carl Rushworth tries to keep a clean sheet for the sixth time in a row. With Torp allowed to move forward, captain Matt Grimes remains in the deep-lying holding midfield position. Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is placed on the right wing, and Ephron Mason-Clark is placed on the left. On a day when Josh Eccles, who previously filled in for the playmaker before suffering a gluteal muscle strain, misses his second straight game due to the injury, Brandon Thomas-Asante will play in the number ten position in Jack Rudoni’s ongoing absence.

Haji Wright, the Sky Blues’ in-form leading scorer, will now lead the line following his lengthy return from international duty in the United States, with fatigue and jet lag not seeming to be a problem. George Shepherd, a 17-year-old attacking midfielder, makes his debut in the senior squad, and Ellis Simms provides impressive backup from the bench. City: Victor Torp, Matt Grimes, Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Liam Kitching, Jay Dasilva, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Ephron Mason-Clark, and Haji Wright; Carl Rushworth. Ben Wilson (GK), Ellis Simms, Kai Andrews, George Shepherd, Jamie Allen, Jake Bidwell, Miguel Angel Brau, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Luke Woolfenden, and Jamie Allen are substitutes.
