Wycombe Wanderers’ acquisition of two Buckinghamshire sports facilities could result in millions of pounds being invested.
Buckinghamshire Council confirmed its affiliation with the club earlier this month.
The football club will become the new leaseholder, with responsibilities for operating, managing, and investing in Farnham Park Playing Fields and the South Buckinghamshire Golf Course.
Buckinghamshire Council stated that the lease will be for 75 years and that the club will invest millions of pounds.
The deal outlines a ‘open and competitive’ marketing procedure.
The municipality stated that the club would have a ‘phased strategy’ of major investment during the first years of the lease.
According to the report, this would amount to several million pounds, and subject to planning permission, the club would invest even more in additional facilities, including a football training complex and academy planned for the northern side of the golf course.

The agreement follows a council assessment that revealed the sites were losing money under in-house management, with income falling short of covering operating and maintenance costs.
The report also stated that the playing grounds’ buildings and facilities are no longer in use due to poor condition.
Employees already running the facilities will be able to transfer to Wycombe Wanderers under TUPE agreements, which protect employment rights when operations change hands.
A formal consultation will take place prior to the changeover date, which will be confirmed once legal procedures are completed.
