Wycombe Wanderers offered 32-year-old after Charlton Athletic’s leave
Following the departure of Richard Kone, Wycombe Wanderers are looking for a new striker, and Chuks Aneke is one possible option.
According to EFL Analysis, Wycombe Wanderers are considering signing Chuks Aneke, a former Charlton Athletic striker.
Wycombe Wanderers fought a long battle over Richard Kone’s future, eventually selling the striker to QPR.
After his departure, the Chairboys are adjusting to life without the Ivorian, although they have had a difficult start this season. They earned their first League One point with a 1-1 draw against Doncaster Rovers.
Mike Dodds started Daniel Udoh up front in the season’s first game, but he will aim to add to his offensive options before the transfer window shuts.
EFL Analysis reports that Wycombe Wanderers have been approached about signing experienced striker Chuks Aneke, who is a free agent after leaving Charlton Athletic last summer. Given Aneke’s status as a free agent, the deal could benefit the Chairboys, who could sign a replacement for Kone for free.
The 32-year-old has extensive EFL experience, having previously played for Crew Alexandra, MK Dons, Charlton, and Birmingham City. He might now apply his experience to help a failing Wanderers team.
Aneke appeared 28 times for Charlton Athletic last season, coming off the bench in the club’s 1-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers in the play-off second leg.
Could Chuks Aneke’s injury history pose a problem?
Aneke has suffered a lot of injuries in recent seasons, preventing him from playing regularly. It has also hindered his on-field performances, with the striker struggling to maintain consistency.

| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2024/25 | 30 | 1 | 5 |
| 2023/24 | 18 | 2 | 2 |
| 2022/23 | 18 | 3 | 1 |
| 2021/22 | 31 | 6 | 1 |
| 2020/21 | 41 | 16 | 3 |
Wycombe Wanderers will be mindful of Aneke’s record over the last few seasons, which may prevent them from signing him.
However, if he can regain the form he showed when he initially joined Charlton Athletic and during his stint at MK Dons, the Chairboys could have a consistent goalscorer on their hands.

Another fresh addition for Wycombe Wanderers.
Dodds is handling his first transfer window as Wycombe Wanderers manager, and he has already made an impact on the club. He has brought in new players around the pitch, particularly in defence and midfield.
The Chairboys have signed new centre-backs Dan Casey, Taylor Allen, and Connor Taylor, who all impressed for their previous clubs last season. They have also signed midfielders Jamie Mullins from Brighton and George Abbott on loan from Tottenham, who have both already made their debuts for the club.
The team has yet to recruit at the striker position, and with Kone’s departure, they will be looking for a successor.
