Charlton Athletic, Nathan Jones eyeing Luton Town transfer raid.

Charlton Athletic are looking to upgrade their squad after being promoted back to the Championship, and the Addicks have been linked with an audacious move for Luton Town custodian Thomas Kaminski.
Following their play-off final loss of fellow Londoners Leyton Orient at Wembley Stadium, there were indications that Cardiff City were interested in taking over manager Nathan Jones from Charlton.
However, the former Luton Town and Southampton manager has signed a new five-year contract at The Valley, and the south Londoners will look to construct a competitive team for the second division next season.
There will be some work to do on the roster, but Jones has demonstrated that he is more than capable of forcing teams to punch above their weight, and Charlton are likely to be active during the summer transfer window.
Charlton Athletic eyeing Luton Town’s Thomas Kaminski
According to Rich Cawley of South London Sport, Charlton are interested in recruiting 32-year-old Kaminski from Luton, who went the opposite way and were relegated to League One at the end of last season.
According to the source, the Hatters are interested in signing Kaminski, who joined Kenilworth Road from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2023 and played every minute of their 2023/24 Premier League season under Rob Edwards’ guidance.
Kaminski, who made his debut for Belgium last year, is likely to want to play at the highest level possible to improve his chances of making Rudi Garcia’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next summer.
Cawley goes on to say that while Charlton already has two first-team goalkeepers in Will Mannion and Ashley Maynard-Brewer, they are looking to reinforce that position, and South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition has been advised that Kaminski meets the description.
Very different summers for Charlton Athletic and Luton Town
Charlton and Luton switched leagues this summer, with Charlton earning promotion at Wembley a few weeks after Luton’s back-to-back Premier League relegations were confirmed with a 5-2 loss at The Hawthorns to West Bromwich Albion.

As Charlton prepare for a season back in the second division, the Addicks have signed the excellent Sonny Carey on a free transfer from Blackpool. They did, however, lose crucial player Thierry Small to Preston North End, after Small’s contract at The Valley expired this summer.
In contrast, Luton have made two impressive additions to their squad: Kal Naismith from Bristol City and George Saville from Millwall.
However, Matt Bloomfield’s side has already lost club captain Carlton Morris, who has recently joined Derby County, and it appears that Morris will not be the last pretty prominent player to leave Kenilworth Road.
In addition to Kaminski, Championship clubs Leicester City, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield United are reportedly interested in Millenic Alli, who joined Luton from Exeter City in the January transfer window.
