Norwich City Council meets Monday: Why Dodd Stadium is on the agenda

Norwich City Council meets Monday: Why Dodd Stadium is on the agenda.

While the budget season has begun, the Norwich City Council still has other issues on its agenda.

The council will meet at its regular hour on Monday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. The agenda, which is available on Norwich’s website, includes a possible sale of Dodd Stadium, a public hearing on commercial waste hauler costs, and a zoning modification for the Occum Industrial Park. Other agenda items include Norwich Golf Authority appointments, grant applications for the new Teacher’s Memorial building and the conversion of the Samuel Huntington building into a Norwich Public Schools office, and the reallocation of leftover Capital Improvement funds to other Capital Improvement projects.

That night’s proclamation recognizes the Holocaust Remembrance Days, which will be on May 4 and May 5.

More: Norwich’s projected budget includes four layoffs. Which departments are affected? Zoning for Occum Industrial Park The city council will vote whether to amend the zoning for a plot of land formerly known as 253 Lawler Lane, located 270 feet from the intersection of Lawler Lane and Scotland Road. If the law is approved, the zoning will change from R-80 to Planned Development District.

This zoning change is related to the city’s Occum Industrial Park development. The only part of the 384-acre project with the incorrect zoning was 253 Lawler Lane. With the appropriate zoning, that parcel adds 10 acres of buffer. The Occum Industrial Park land west of Canterbury Turnpike has been zoned PDD for over ten years, and the parcel will be included in that land with the zoning change, according to Norwich Community Development Corporation President Kevin Brown.
