Photo credits should read: Reading supporters will receive their fixture schedule for the 2025/26 League One season in less than a month, as emphasis shifts to the summer. Excitement is at an all-time high in the Royal County after Rob Couhig’s takeover last month ended Dai Yongge’s eight-year reign, which got particularly sour in the past two years as fans worried the club would be lost forever.

Noel Hunt and his team overcame obstacles to finish eighth, losing out on the play-offs on the final day, but Couhig and co. have already stated that their goals for the new season are far larger. While pre-season arrangements and certain players’ contracts are still being negotiated, clubs only have to wait 28 days for the new season’s matches. The EFL has verified that these lists will be released at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 26. This is later than past years, with 9 a.m. being the customary release time.

In addition, the Carabao Cup Round One draw will take place on June 26 at 4.30pm, followed by the Vertu Trophy group stage draw at 2.30pm. League One begins on August 2 and ends on the first weekend of May, with the play-off final scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2026. The final of the Vertu Trophy, which will again take place at Wembley Stadium, is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026. Supporters have only a few days until the summer transfer window opens on June 1, closes on June 10, and reopens on June 16. This is to align with the new FIFA rules for the Club World Cup.
