Police name Sheffield hit-and-run victim as appeal to find man wanted over crash airs on Crimewatch
Police in Sheffield have named a 40-year-old man who died in a hit-and-run accident today, while Crimewatch
broadcasts a countrywide search for a man who is wanted in connection with the incident.
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 8:32 p.m., South Yorkshire Police were called in relation to the collision that
occurred on Gleadless Road in Gleadless.
“A 40-year-old man, now identified as Damian Wojtulewicz, was tragically declared dead at the scene upon officers’
arrival,” a force official stated.
Police are requesting the location of the car as well as the whereabouts of Kielan Whinfrey, 34, who was involved in
the incident. “We believe Whinfrey knows he is wanted and is actively evading police,” a force spokesperson stated.
Officers quickly requested the public’s assistance in tracking down the vehicle and driver as the driver fled the scene
in a black Volkswagen Golf.

Police say they are asking people in Sheffield towns and throughout the nation to come forward with any information
they think could help them, ahead of the nationwide appeal airing.
John Taylor, a sergeant in the Serious Collisions Unit, stated: “We are dedicated to identifying the murderer of
Damian and making sure that justice is done for him and his family.
“We know that following the collision the driver fled the scene towards the S12 Intake, Normanton Hill area and that
the car would have had extensive damage.
We know it couldn’t have gone very far because of the car’s damage, and we think it’s still in the South Yorkshire
region, unless it was moved during transit.
The front part of the car was severely damaged.
“I’m asking you to be alert; if you come across a damaged car that fits the description anywhere, please contact me.
“A man has died; his family and friends have lost their loved one. Until we identify the culprits, we won’t give up.

those involved.”
