The Phillies have parted ways with veteran right-hander Bryse Wilson, according to the transaction log on MiLB.com. He had been starting games for their Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley.
Wilson, 28, inked a minor league contract back in December. During the 2026 season, he has made 10 appearances—nine of them starts—for the IronPigs, posting a rough 7.44 ERA. However, his underlying numbers suggest he’s pitched better than that inflated figure indicates. He’s posted average or better rates in strikeouts (22.1%), walks (8.1%), and ground balls (52.7%).
Despite allowing a very high .393 batting average on balls in play, his opponents have actually posted below-average exit velocity and hard-hit rates. Advanced metrics like xFIP (4.13) and FIP (4.30) suggest his ERA should be several runs lower.
Wilson has appeared in parts of eight major league seasons but has found consistent success only during a 2023–24 stint with the Brewers.
Over those two years in Milwaukee, he threw 181⅓ innings with a 3.42 ERA, a 19% strikeout rate, and a 7% walk rate. In his other six MLB seasons combined (with the Braves, Pirates, and White Sox), he owns a 5.73 ERA. He has experience as a starter, short reliever, and swingman, and is currently fully stretched out, making him a candidate to join any team seeking experienced pitching depth.
