Kentucky Wildcats News: Jamal Crawford dream lives on

Former NBA Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford has made a strong impression this season as an analyst for NBC and Peacock’s NBA coverage. Following a year with MSG Networks covering the New York Knicks, Crawford moved to a major network and has performed exceptionally well throughout the season.

Reports indicate that Crawford has received an offer to become an assistant coach on Mark Pope’s staff, and as of Sunday, he has not turned it down leaving the possibility open for him to join Kentucky ahead of next season.

Pope and the Wildcats recently lost both Alvin Brooks (to NC State) and Jason Hart (to USC), so bringing in Crawford would address an immediate need while also potentially giving Kentucky an advantage in recruiting.

The complication, however, is that Crawford’s son is the top-ranked recruit in the 2029 class and currently resides on the West Coast. As he approaches his most critical high school years, relocating to Kentucky would be a difficult move.

If Crawford does decide to join Pope at Kentucky, he would become the second former NBA player added to the staff this offseason, following the addition of Mo Williams.
