BREAKING NEWS: Philadelphia Phillies Sign Former New York Yankees Prospect

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Phillies will face the Cincinnati Reds again at Citizens Bank Park, continuing their current series. The Phillies enter the game after a narrow 5–4 victory on Monday.

Phillies Add Former Yankees Prospect

On Monday, the Phillies inked right-hander Brian Keller to a Minor League contract, according to MLB.com. The account @PhilsTailgate noted, “The Phillies signed RHP Brian Keller to a minor league contract.”

Keller was originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 39th round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Now 31, he has yet to appear in a big-league game. In 2021, he posted a 2–2 record with a 2.77 ERA over 26 outings for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at Triple-A.

During the 2019 season at Double-A with the Trenton Thunder, Keller threw a no-hitter. He also spent time in the Boston Red Sox system, going 6–5 with a 3.27 ERA in 31 games for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox in 2022.

His most recent action came in Japan in 2023 before an injury sidelined him. Keller adds intriguing pitching depth to the organization and is worth watching, given his track record as a solid Minor League arm.

Phillies’ Current Standing
The Phillies enter the day second in the National League East with a 25–23 record through 48 games. They’ve gone 8–2 in their last ten contests and hold a 13–12 mark at home. After a rocky start to the 2026 season, Philadelphia has completely reversed its fortunes. John Clark of NBC10 Philadelphia wrote, “The Phillies have been the best team in baseball in May. Bryson Stott is tied for the most RBIs in the majors this month. Kyle Schwarber is right behind him.

Alec Bohm is batting .345 in May  one of the best averages in the National League.” Following two more games against the Reds, the Phillies will stay home to host the Cleveland Guardians, with that series beginning Friday night. Philadelphia has reached the MLB playoffs in each of the past four seasons.
