On Tuesday, Moreno took part in a pro day event. Meanwhile, Mark Pope and his coaching staff are actively recruiting, hoping to make an impact with 2027 high school prospects. However, their most significant roster boost might ultimately hinge on Malachi Moreno’s decision regarding the NBA Draft.

It’s fair to say that Moreno’s choice will greatly influence the anticipation surrounding next season either helping Pope regain favor with the Big Blue Nation or adding to the criticism from those who have already written him off. That’s why a tweet from Moreno yesterday afternoon generated so much buzz among fans.
WHAT COULD IT MEAN? That was the collective reaction upon seeing it. Although Moreno has retweeted various accounts in recent months, this marked his first original tweet since March 19.
Moreno took part in the GSL Sports Group Pro Day in Los Angeles on Tuesday, performing in front of representatives from all 30 NBA teams. After working out for the New York Knicks and meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, he is expected to have several more workouts before the week ends.
His draft stock remains firmly in the late first-round range, though projections vary Yahoo Sports has him going 23rd overall to Atlanta, while ESPN suggests he could slip to early in the second round.

One thing is clear: if Moreno decides to remain in the draft, the Kentucky native will hear his name called this year. Now, it’s simply a matter of which path he prefers.
Either way, an answer should be coming very soon.
