On Monday, Kentucky Football hoped to secure another addition to its growing 2027 recruiting class when three-star offensive tackle Rance Brown was scheduled to announce his college decision. But Brown instead committed to the Auburn Tigers, forcing the Wildcats to keep looking for a tackle.

Brown, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle from Brentwood, Tennessee, is ranked by the 247 Sports Composite as the No. 1,112 overall prospect nationally, the No. 86 offensive tackle in his class, and the No. 41 recruit in Tennessee. Kentucky extended an offer in late March and quickly became a contender for his pledge, but ultimately lost out to Auburn. Brown is set to visit Auburn on Friday, though he still has an official visit scheduled with Kentucky on June 12—assuming he continues taking trips.
With over 20 scholarship offers during his recruitment, Brown is seen as a developmental Power Four offensive lineman with considerable potential. According to 247 Sports’ Director of Scouting, Andrew Ivins, Brown is a tall, aggressive lineman who generates consistent push at the line of scrimmage and offers positional flexibility to play either tackle or guard in a zone-heavy offensive system. Before transferring to Brentwood Academy for his senior season, he primarily played left tackle as a junior at Southside High School in Alabama.

Scouts have praised Brown’s size, upper-body strength, and physical blocking style. His 10.5-inch hands and ability to generate power make him an intriguing long-term prospect, while his athleticism and flashes of pass protection stand out on film. Though Brown may require developmental time early in college, Auburn sees major upside in his frame, athleticism, and line versatility. The pledge gives Auburn another key piece in the trenches as Alex Golesh and the Tigers build for the future in the SEC.
Meanwhile, Kentucky has three offensive line commits so far, but they are projected as college guards leaving the Wildcats still searching for a true offensive tackle prospect.
