Catcher J.T. Realmuto sustained a bruised left wrist during Sunday’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers, forcing him to leave the matchup early.
He exited in the bottom of the fourth inning after being struck on the left wrist by a fastball from Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Although Realmuto was initially hit by a pitch while running the bases in the top of the third and remained in the game to catch the bottom of the inning, he was replaced by Rafael Marchán when the Phillies took the field for the bottom of the fourth.
The Phillies announced that Realmuto would receive further testing on the injured wrist.
The 35-year-old catcher has already faced several injuries during the 2026 season. Earlier in the year, he was placed on the injured list due to a back issue, and he has also been managing a persistent foot problem.
Philadelphia re-signed Realmuto to a three-year, $45 million contract after failing to land Bo Bichette in free agency.
Entering Sunday’s contest against the Dodgers, Realmuto had a batting line of .220/.291/.299 with a .590 OPS, along with two home runs and nine RBIs in 39 games.

If Realmuto is sidelined, the catching duties would likely be split between Marchán and Garrett Stubbs.
Following Sunday’s series finale with the Dodgers, the Phillies will open a three-game home set against the San Diego Padres, marking Nick Castellanos’s first return to Philadelphia since being released by the team.
