Philadelphia Phillies Announce Kyle Schwarber Change Before Marlins Game

On Tuesday night, Citizens Bank Park will host the middle matchup of the three-game set between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins.

In that victory, Kyle Schwarber walked once and finished 1-for-4 at the plate.

Philadelphia has revealed its starting nine for Tuesday’s contest, as shared by Underdog MLB on X:
“Phillies 6/16 B. Marsh LF K. Schwarber 1B B. Harper DH A. Bohm 3B B. Stott 2B J. Realmuto C G. Rincones Jr. RF J. Crawford CF E. Sosa SS J. Luzardo SP”

Beyond being shifted from the leadoff position, Schwarber is slated to start at first base, with Bryce Harper taking on designated hitter duties.

This marks just the second time in the current campaign that Schwarber has been deployed at first base. His only previous big-league experience at the position came during his 2021 stint with the Boston Red Sox. Though Schwarber has mostly operated as a DH for Philadelphia, he does have prior outfield reps—yet this will be only his third defensive start of any kind in 2026.

The last occasion he started at first was October 3, 2021, while with the Red Sox. His lone fielding appearance this season at first came when Harper was pulled from a game, and Schwarber handled the position for the ninth inning; he recorded no putouts in that outing, as all three outs came via fly balls to the outfield.
