Kentucky Wildcat News: Milan Momcilovic explains why he chose UK

There’s no shortage of buzz around the Kentucky Wildcats this summer, with Mark Pope and his staff aiming to make a real impact in Year 3. A major name in that conversation? Milan Momcilovic.

The Iowa State marksman passed on Louisville and Arizona to suit up in Lexington, and he’s now positioned to be a central piece of the rotation this coming season. But given how fast his recruitment moved and the fact that he never even took a campus visit how exactly did Momcilovic end up committing to Kentucky?

He opened up to the UK Sports Network about what drew him to Pope and the Wildcats:

“Going up against him at BYU really left an impression on me,” Momcilovic said. “During my first year or two at Iowa State, we faced his teams, and they were always a handful to deal with. The way they could fill it up from deep really caught my eye. He clearly loves playing with shooters, and that’s obviously where I excel. It feels like a natural fit.”

There’s been plenty of discussion about how seamlessly he slides into the shooting role that Pope’s system has showcased before. Koby Brea flourished in his first year, and Colin Chandler filled that role last season. Now everything seems aligned for Momcilovic to step in as the Wildcats’ premier perimeter threat this year.
