Auburn adds commitment from 3-star ATH out of Georgia

Auburn is aiming to make progress this fall as Alex Golesh begins his first year as head coach on the Plains. But even while the Tigers concentrate on the 2026 campaign, Golesh and his staff are also keeping their attention fixed further down the road and Monday night brought another meaningful development for the program’s 2027 outlook.

Nasir Banks, a 3-star recruit listed as an athlete, announced via social media that he has pledged to Auburn for the 2027 season. The significance of this commitment goes beyond Banks’ individual abilities; it also represents a notable coup for Golesh, given that Banks hails from a neighboring state that falls within SEC rival territory.

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds, Banks currently plays for McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, which means Auburn successfully pulled him out of the Peach State and across the border into Alabama, where he will begin his college career next fall. His official visit to Auburn’s campus this past weekend appears to have been the deciding factor in his choice to join the Tigers.

The 247Sports Composite rankings slot Banks as a safety, though Auburn pursued him with the intention of using him as an athlete. In those same composite rankings, he is positioned at No. 1,075 overall among 2027 prospects, along with being the No. 108 safety nationally and the No. 126 recruit from the state of Georgia.

Auburn has once again tapped into McEachern’s talent pool for the 2027 cycle, as Banks will join his current high school teammate Nash Johnson III a 3-star cornerback in the Tigers’ future secondary. The two are expected to remain teammates at Auburn in 2027, and with Banks’ addition, the program’s 2027 recruiting haul now sits at 22 total commitments.

That group is already generating attention, as the 247Sports Composite rankings currently have Auburn’s 2027 class pegged at No. 9 nationally.

As the Tigers keep building out their future rosters for 2027, they will also be aiming to make a meaningful impression within the SEC and factor into the College Football Playoff conversation during the upcoming fall season. With that in mind, here is what the current Kalshi market indicates about the odds for the leading contenders to compete for a national title come December.
