Ben Wallace Says Pistons Ready For Next Step, They’re Seasoned Vets Now

Detroit legend Ben Wallace tells TMZ Sports that the Pistons are primed for another strong push in 2027, insisting that Motor City is poised to build on their recent campaign with added seasoning under their belts.

Cade Cunningham and his teammates secured the Eastern Conference’s number one seed behind a 60–22 regular-season record, though their playoff journey ended sooner than hoped with a semifinal exit at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Wallace, however, finds a positive takeaway, pointing out that the squad simply needs to regroup and keep in mind that even the league’s elite can suffer playoff defeats.

He suggests that inexperience may have played a role this time around, but now that they’ve tasted that level of competition, it shouldn’t weigh on their chances come next season.

In Wallace’s view, the rest of the East will be busy retooling just to keep pace with what Detroit already has in place, and opponents will likely study and adjust to the Pistons’ regular-season approach.

Challenges certainly remain New York holds the title as world champions, Miami has added Giannis Antetokounmpo to their roster, and Boston is still very much in the picture but Wallace sounds assured that if Detroit stays true to their identity, things will fall into place.
