That brings us to Khris Middleton and D’Angelo Russell, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
Washington is effectively offloading Russell’s salary to Memphis, with a draft pick coming back to the Wizards in return.
Middleton, meanwhile, has agreed to a three-year, $17.6 million pact with Washington and will arrive via sign-and-trade from Dallas. The second year carries only a partial guarantee, while the third year contains no guarantee at all.
Both Russell and Middleton have now been absorbed into a considerably more elaborate six-team transaction, which also incorporates previously agreed-upon swaps including Collins moving from the Clippers to Detroit. According to John Hollinger of The Athletic, Middleton is projected to earn $5.6 million in the coming season, since that figure allows both he and Deandre Ayton to fit within the Kelly Olynyk traded-player exception that Washington intends to utilize.
As for Dallas, the Mavericks wind up with Santi Aldama, Marcus Sasser, and a trade exception—a tidy haul for their efforts.
