Athlon Sports collected anonymous thoughts from coaches, and some of their comments on Stein stood out. One coach questioned whether Stein’s success at Oregon was largely due to the talent advantage he enjoyed there, and whether he can replicate that at Kentucky, where recruiting talent is more challenging.

“Given the talent level he inherited at Oregon, he had more firepower than most opponents. It’ll be interesting to see how he adjusts from being at a program with plenty of resources to one with fewer advantages and whether he can maintain his energy and connection with players through that transition.”
