Following a 2-1 deficit to the Atlanta Hawks in the Quarterfinals, doubts emerged about whether this Knicks core could deliver in the playoffs and mount a credible run at the NBA Finals.

New York silenced those critics by turning into one of the hottest teams in basketball, largely thanks to the offensive brilliance of Karl-Anthony Towns, who delivered a masterclass over the final four games.

In Sunday’s series-clinching win, Towns posted 17 points, 10 assists, four rebounds, and two blocks in just 20 minutes.

Across the four-game sweep, the former Kentucky Wildcat averaged 15 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in only 23 minutes per game. He has fully taken charge of the offense, positioning the Knicks as the favorites to come out of their conference for the NBA title.

However, Towns’ defensive struggles remain a concern as the playoffs advance. He picked up four or more fouls in every game of the semifinals, which limited his minutes and created instability in the Knicks’ rotations.

He has now committed four or more fouls in seven of ten playoff games, making it a recurring issue he must address if New York hopes to win another series or two in the coming month.
