The New York Mets made a necessary adjustment to their rotation on Saturday, bringing Christian Scott back from the 15-day injured list in time for their continued series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Scott had been sidelined by a right hip impingement, cutting short what had become one of the few bright spots on the pitching staff during a difficult 2026 campaign.
Before the injury, the right-hander had posted a 3.10 ERA, giving the Mets another promising arm to work with as they look for more consistency on the mound.
In order to make room on the major league roster, the Mets sent Zach Thornton down to Triple-A Syracuse. The decision came just a day after the rookie left-hander turned in a strong outing Friday night, surrendering only one run over six innings in a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Phillies.
The team took to X, formerly known as Twitter, prior to Saturday’s game to officially announce the changes, with interim manager Andy Green overseeing the current roster moves.
