Kansas State lands 2027 Four Star Guard

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Casey Alexander era at Kansas State continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail. On Tuesday, the Wildcats secured a commitment from four-star guard Kameron Cooper, their first high school pledge for the 2027 recruiting class .

Cooper, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound rising senior at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, chose the Wildcats over a competitive field that included TCU, Xavier, UNLV, San Diego State, and Wichita State . According to the Rivals industry rankings, which compile ratings from Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN, Cooper is ranked as the No. 115 overall player in the nation and the No. 32 shooting guard in his class .

The commitment carries a significant family connection, as Cooper is the son of Kansas State assistant coach John Cooper, who joined Alexander’s inaugural staff this spring . The elder Cooper previously served as an assistant at UNLV and brings head coaching experience from tenures at Tennessee State and Miami (Ohio) .

“I want them [the fans] to expect to win,” Alexander recently said regarding his vision for the program . Recruiting high school talent is a key component of that vision, and Cooper becomes his highest-rated prep recruit since taking over in Manhattan . He joins 2026 signees Jaylen Alexander and Devin Hutcherson as part of the Wildcats’ high school foundation .

A first-team All-Southern Nevada selection as a junior, Cooper helped lead Bishop Gorman to the Class 5A state semifinals . His recruitment gained traction during the summer AAU circuit, where he recently posted a 14-point, two-rebound performance in one game .

Cooper’s pledge is an early statement for Alexander’s staff as it works to build the 2027 class and signals a renewed emphasis on securing top-tier high school talent for the Wildcats’ future .
