Tobias Harris played a significant role for the Eastern Conference’s top seed in the 2025-26 campaign.
That said, his future with the Detroit Pistons is far from certain.
He’s set to hit unrestricted free agency, and Detroit has given no clear indication that they plan to re-sign him.
At 33 years old, he still put up 18.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during the postseason.
Now, Harris is actively exploring his options elsewhere.

According to The Athletic, Harris is scheduled to meet with five different teams as free agency gets underway, per an anonymous league source familiar with the negotiations. It’s still unclear whether those conversations are happening virtually, over the phone, or in person, and the specific teams involved haven’t been disclosed. At the very least, this suggests that Detroit losing Harris is a genuine possibility.
On top of that, the Pistons are also facing the possibility of losing Jalen Duren, with reports indicating that contract talks with the big man have hit a rough patch.
As a result, The Athletic notes that Detroit could be at real risk of regressing this offseason.
Given his age, any team interested in Harris will have to think carefully about how many years and how much money they’re willing to commit.
Still, his shooting ability and offensive skill set should make him an attractive addition for some franchise—just maybe not the Pistons.
